Rhode Island Health Professional Loan Repayment Program (RI HPLRP)
The Rhode Island Health Professional Loan Repayment Program (RI HPLRP) serves as a critical healthcare workforce recruitment and retention tool in the state’s efforts to increase access to primary care, dental and behavioral health services, and reduce health disparities among our most vulnerable populations. The RI HPLRP provides educational loan repayment to health professionals committing to serve the communities with limited access to care in Rhode Island’s federally designated health professional shortage areas (HPSAs).
Amount Awarded
- Award amounts up to $50,000 vary based on income and student loan balances for an initial two-year service commitment.
Once the initial two-year service contract is completed, recipients may be eligible to apply for additional loan repayment funds to pay remaining educational loans through one-year continuation service contracts.
